Upcoming Events at R & M Stables
2026 Pony Camps: Informational only: Enrollment for the 2026 Summer Sessions begins on March 2.
LEAD, CONNECT, DIRECT are the core values that we embrace in our pony camps at R&M Stables. Our mission is to enable youth riders to feel a sense of accomplishment, success, and confidence as they begin a journey entering the wonderful world of equestrian adventures.
Purposeful play is an important ingredient incorporated into the daily activities at R&M Stables. Our wranglers add to the camp’s excitement as they help direct our young ‘cowpokes’ through the day’s activities. Whether students are interacting as wranglers or cowpokes, our mission remains the same:
LEADERSHIP THROUGH HORSEMANSHIP
This mission is accomplished by teaching horsemanship from the ground up. This means our cowpokes will have an elevated working knowledge of what it means to work around the horse both from on the ground and in the saddle. New this year - each ‘cowpoke’ will receive a coloring book when they arrive at camp. The coloring book corresponds with the learning goals we cover during each day at camp. In addition, a QR code you can scan will be in the coloring book. This will take you to a video link that also highlights the learning goals taught each day. Parents can enjoy watching what their campers are learning daily through the demonstrations shown on the videos.

In our “pony camps,” children will receive daily riding time in the saddle and have the opportunity and responsibility for caring for our wonderful ponies. Our ponies are so much fun to be around. They are friendly, love children and are specially chosen to match your child’s size, skill and personality. Our unique emphasis on equine principles in and out of the saddle ensures that your child will learn about how a pony thinks and behaves.
Each day we will focus on riding techniques, safety, tack (saddles, bridles, halters), grooming, equine care, and good communication from both the ground and in the saddle. All activities are “hands on” where campers learn understanding and respect for our ponies.
At the end of each week, campers will show what they have learned in a pony parade that they will present to parents. This is a great way to round out your child’s pony camp experience.
One more thing--if your camper is very tall, no worries! We have horses available for those who have outgrown the ponies.
Pony Camp includes the following:
- Basic riding skills and practice
- Equine safety, from the ground and in the saddle
- Pony care: feeding, hoof care and health
- Stables and corral – basic stable care and cleanliness
