John Moore Horse Clinic

We are thrilled to be hosting internationally touring equine clinician John Moore for a 3 day intensive horsemanship clinic.

John tours the world as an equine clinician, conducting clinics for riding schools, private organizations, mounted police departments and major equine events. He has become well known for rehabilitating horses with behavioral issues, as well as taking performance horses from many different disciplines to the next level of performance through his ability to read horses and present information to them and their riders in a way that is more understandable and usable in their chosen discipline.
He also hosts a series of riding camps in Europe with his good friend and colleague Dr. Gary Potter of Texas A&M University, as well as 2 and 3 week classes in the U.S. where students have a chance to put their training and knowledge to use on a cattle ranch. John not only works with western riders and horses, he also works extensively with dressage riders and riders of various other disciplines when traveling abroad. He has been sought by thousands of riders, professional as well as amateur, to help them develop a more effective training program for their chosen discipline of riding. His background of extensive travel and study abroad as well as a lifetime association with horses and great horsemen has served him well in this line of work.
Not a Trail Ride—A True Riding Experience
At R&M Stables, we offer something intentionally different.
While traditional trail rides are a great recreational activity, they’re typically designed for guests to sit back and enjoy the scenery. Horses follow a familiar path, and riders can simply relax as passengers along the way.
Our experience is built around something more engaging.
All riding at R&M takes place in a controlled arena environment, where guests are guided through the fundamentals of horsemanship. Think of it as an elevated, hands-on riding experience—designed to give you a true feel for what it means to ride and connect with a horse.
You’ll learn how to:

Start and stop your horse with intention

Steer and guide with proper rein control

Develop balance through correct seat and foot position

Communicate clearly and confidently with your horse
Our horses are not just “trail horses”—they are responsive, well-trained performance horses who are capable of partnering with you as you learn.
As your confidence builds, you’ll move beyond the basics and begin riding patterns and navigating obstacles. This is where the experience truly transforms—when you and your horse start working together.
At that point, you’re no longer just along for the ride.
You’re riding.
Our goal is for every guest to leave with a genuine sense of accomplishment—having learned not only how to ride, but also how horses think, move, and respond. It’s an experience that stays with you long after you leave the arena, and one you can take with you anywhere you ride in the future.

Cowpoke Days are designed for children who attended Pony Camp this season and would like to continue building the confidence and horsemanship skills they discovered at camp. Whether this was your child's first summer with us or they've been returning year after year, Cowpoke Days provide the perfect opportunity to continue learning, growing, and spending time at the barn.
At R&M Stables, we believe that great riders are built on a foundation of great horsemanship. Our mission has always been to teach children not only how to ride, but also how to understand, respect, and care for their horses. Every Cowpoke Day builds upon the foundational horsemanship skills introduced during Pony Camp, helping young riders develop confidence, responsibility, and a lifelong appreciation for horses.
This isn't just another riding lesson. It's an opportunity for children to continue developing the knowledge, skills, and work ethic that create capable horsemen and horsewomen.
What Your Child Will Experience
Each Cowpoke Day is designed to reinforce the skills learned during Pony Camp while introducing new opportunities for growth. During each session, riders will:

Groom and prepare their pony for riding.

Continue learning proper tacking and safety procedures.

Build upon the riding skills introduced during Pony Camp.

Improve balance, confidence, control, and communication with their pony.

Learn responsibility by untacking and caring for their pony after the ride.
Every session reinforces the idea that horsemanship is about much more than riding. Children learn to care for their ponies, practice safe horse handling, and gain confidence through hands-on experience while strengthening the skills they developed during Pony Camp.
Flexible Scheduling
We know fall schedules can be busy, so there is no requirement to attend every session. Families are welcome to register for the dates that best fit their schedule.
Cowpoke Days are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and space is limited for each session.
