Pony Camps
Purposeful play is an important ingredient incorporated into the daily activities at R&M Stables. Weekly themes have been added this season in order to reinforce learning goals that campers will encounter each day. Each week is structured around a theme, and all education and activities in any given week will embrace the theme. Our wranglers add to the camp’s excitement as they help direct our young ‘cowpokes’ through the day’s activities. Weather students are interacting as wranglers or cowpokes, our mission remains the same:
LEADERSHIP THROUGH HORSEMANSHIP
This mission is accomplished by teaching horsemanship from the ground up. This means our cowpokes will have an elevated working knowledge of what it means to work around the horse both from on the ground and in the saddle.

In our “pony camps,” children will receive daily riding time in the saddle and have the opportunity and responsibility for caring for our wonderful ponies. Our ponies are so much fun to be around. They are friendly, love children and are specially chosen to match your child’s size, skill and personality. Our unique emphasis on equine principles in and out of the saddle ensures that your child will learn about how a pony thinks and behaves.
Each day we will focus on riding techniques, safety, tack (saddles, bridles, halters), grooming, equine care, and good communication from both the ground and in the saddle. All activities are “hands on” where campers learn understanding and respect for our ponies.
At the end of each week, campers will show what they have learned in a pony parade that they will present to parents. This is a great way to round out your child’s pony camp experience.
One more thing--if your camper is very tall, no worries! We have horses available for those who have outgrown the ponies.
